Gamberi – This unique project provided Nutec’s architecture and MEP group the opportunity to design one of the largest hospitals in Afghanistan. The 96-bed hospital was designed under an expedited schedule, and Nutec worked with the US Army Corps of Engineers Afghanistan Engineering District. Unique to the country, this hospital also contains health care areas for women.
Military Training Compound – Nutec’s architectural group designed three billeting building to house 1,000 officers and soldiers in the Middle East. The two-story buildings range in size from 3,400 m2 to 3,900 m2, and our firm worked with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Middle East District.

National Institutes of Health – Renovation of a partial wing to house Gene Therapy research including open laboratory and Tissue Culture areas, researcher’s workstations, and laboratory support functions. Planning entailed an intense charrette worksession to develop the programmatic and conceptual documentation.
National Institutes of Health – Renovation of an entire wing into open plan research laboratories and support spaces, including Mass Spectrometer and Tissue Culture labs. Also included were administrative support areas, conference rooms, and staff lounge facilities.
USAMRIID – Major mechanical and electrical upgrades to the existing buildings at Fort Detrick as well as design of a new laboratory prototype, which was adapted for a new Bio-Safety Level (BSL) 3 Aerosol Biology Suite. Another laboratory renovation was completed to create new BSL-2 spaces.
Fort Detrick – Many architectural/engineering commissions were completed under multiple Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts. Sample projects include conversion of warehouses to office and training space, civil/site upgrades to support the new National Biodefense Campus, substation replacements, and multiple mechanical/electrical facility upgrades throughout the installation.
VA CBOC – Fully-integrated architectural and engineering design for a new Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) adjacent to the Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center at Fort Meade. The healthcare facility includes multiple general and psychiatric exam rooms, clinical laboratory, and spaces for ophthalmological and audiological examination. It was also designed to be the first LEED Silver Certified CBOC in the country.
VA Coatesville – Nutec has provided integrated architecture and engineering design for three renovation projects at the Coatesville VAMC. These included a new psychiatric long-term care facility within an existing building, renovations of existing space for Alzheimer’s care, and creation of a new central pharmacy for the campus.
Fort Benning – Architecture and engineering services in support of a design-build project to renovate two historic buildings at Fort Benning, Georgia, to serve as veterinary care facilities for the base’s Military Working Dogs.
